Alternative to N-able: management and security on one platform
Using N-central or N-sight and looking for an alternative? Xcitium combines RMM, patch management, EDR and a 24/7 SOC on one platform, with ransomware prevention at its core. Spiredesk guides the switch in the Netherlands.
Why MSPs look for an alternative to N-able
N-able started as an RMM vendor and has expanded its security offering in recent years, including the acquisition of Adlumin (MDR and XDR) in November 2024. Xcitium comes from the other direction: it started as a security vendor and built management into the same platform. The main difference is how unknown files are handled. Xcitium runs them in isolation until they are proven safe, so ransomware cannot cause damage, even when it is not yet known anywhere.
What Xcitium does differently
Prevention instead of clean-up
ZeroDwell isolates unknown files before they can encrypt anything. You do not have to wait until an attack is recognised.
Management and security in one console
RMM, patch management, remote access, helpdesk and EDR live in the same platform. Fewer separate tools and fewer integrations to maintain.
A SOC under your own brand
With SOCaaP you deliver a 24/7 SOC to your customers under your own name, without hiring analysts yourself.
Managed EDR with no hourly rate
The Xcitium SOC investigates incidents and steps in without charging by the hour.
Competitive pricing, no minimum
Competitive pricing per endpoint and no minimum purchase. You get a proposal in euros that fits your customer base.
Local distributor
Spiredesk is the official Xcitium distributor for the Netherlands: licences, demo environment, training and local support.
How the switch works
You are not on your own: Xcitium and Spiredesk help with the rollout. We agree in advance who does what and what it may cost.
- 01
Inventory
Together we map which customers, devices, policies and scripts you currently manage in N-able.
- 02
Demo environment
You get an Xcitium environment to get to know the platform yourself.
- 03
Pilot with one customer
We start with one customer or a group of devices and test against criteria agreed in advance.
- 04
Rollout per customer
Xcitium helps with the rollout per customer. The agent can, for example, be installed with a script through your current RMM, so nobody has to visit each device.
- 05
Wrap up
Once a customer has fully switched, you remove the old agent and cancel the licences at the next renewal.
Xcitium and N-able side by side
Based on public information from both vendors (October 2026). We have tried to make this comparison as factual as possible. Spotted an error or has something changed? Let us know through the contact form and we will correct it.
| Component | Xcitium | N-able |
|---|---|---|
| RMM | Xcitium RMM with monitoring, scripting and asset management | N-central and N-sight RMM |
| Patch management | Automated, prioritised by risk, with rollback | Part of the RMM |
| Endpoint security | EDR with ZeroDwell containment of unknown files | EDR |
| MDR and SOC | Managed EDR and SOC packages, also white label (SOCaaP) | MDR through Adlumin (acquired in 2024) |
| Helpdesk | Helpdesk and ticketing with AI in the same platform | Through integrations with PSA tools |
When N-able may suit you better
Switching is not the best choice for everyone. Stay with N-able if:
- your processes and automations are deeply built into N-central and the switch does not outweigh the benefit;
- your contract with N-able runs for a long time and you do not want to pay twice.

ViewFrequently asked questions
Can N-able and Xcitium run side by side for a while?
Yes, both platforms can coexist during the switch. Two security products on the same device can conflict; we agree that per customer.
Are Xcitium and Comodo the same?
Xcitium is the new name of Comodo Security Solutions. Our knowledge base explains what changed.
Does Xcitium help with the migration?
Yes. Xcitium helps MSPs with the rollout per customer. Spiredesk agrees with you and Xcitium who does what and in which order.
What does the switch cost?
That depends on the number of customers and devices and on what you do yourself. We make a proposal in advance, so there are no surprises.
Do we have to move all our customers at once?
No. Switching per customer is usually the safest approach, for example when their contract or licence is up for renewal.
